History of the Institute of Electronics

Instytut Elektroniki

The Institute of Electronics was founded in 1973. We have a long lasting expertise in designing and prototyping electronic systems with special emphasis on signal/image processing and analysis, real time DSP implementations, and pattern recognition. Our current research activities concentrate on:

  • Biomedical image and signal analysis,
  • Human-system interaction,
  • Telecommunications,
  • Infrared systems. 

The Institute employs 27 academic staff, including 7 professors, who supervise the research of 25 PhD students and offer the lectures, seminars and workshops in Polish and English. The Institute regularly takes part in international cooperation programmes – COST, 7FP, Erasmus LLP, bilateral. We closely collaborate with industrial partners: Microsoft, Orange, PiProject, Satel, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Texas Instruments, TME, TomTom.


Since 2003 the Institute has been located in a redesigned and renewed XIX-th century F.W. Schweikert wool mill.
