On 5 November 2026, during the “Semiconductors & Electronics Central Poland” conference held at the Łódź Special Economic Zone, the establishment of SEMTRONIC - the Central Poland Electronics and Semiconductor Technologies Cluster was officially announced.
The initiative aims to bring together businesses, the academic community and business support institutions, as well as to foster cooperation to strengthen the region’s technological and industrial potential.
Prof. Paweł Strumiłło from our Institute attended the event and also took part in a panel discussion devoted to cooperation between academia and business, as well as the opportunities and challenges involved in translating research findings into practical applications in the field of electronics.
🤝 Lodz University of Technology’s commitment to the development of the cluster was further demonstrated by the decision of Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, to establish the Team for Electronics and Semiconductor Technologies. Prof. Paweł Strumiłło was appointed to lead the Team, while D.Sc. Eng. Robert Olbrycht was also appointed as a representative of the Institute of Electronics.
The Team, bringing together representatives from six organisational units across four faculties of Lodz University of Technology, aims to strengthen cooperation between the University’s units and enhance its research and scientific potential in the fields of electronics and semiconductor technologies, both nationally and internationally.
🚀 The establishment of SEMTRONIC marks an important step towards building a regional electronics and semiconductor ecosystem. With its significant research and educational potential in these fields, Lodz University of Technology can play a key role in fostering this collaboration and educating highly skilled professionals for the modern industry.
